Having picked it up yesterday, I can recomend Trio Beyond's "Saudades".
Jack DeJohnette plays beautifully on this album. _________________ "I don't think I have a clue." |

Here are some of the records I listen to for some great drumming and just plain ol' MUSICAL inspiration:
Temporal Analogues of Paradise-Hellborg, Lane, and Sipe
TOP Live-From like, late 90's? Garibaldi tears it up on Soul with a Cap S, I Gotta Groove, Soul Vac, all that stuff. I tend to turn it up to distortion level and then back it off. Just play it LOUD.
Protocol- Simon Phillips first solo record. REALLY good.
Cave Men
Karizma Document
Secrets
Any and all Sting w/Vinnie
ESPECIALLY the live stuff- All Vinnie of Course
Dogman-King's X
Jerry Gaskill lays it DOWN, all the time. Love his simplicity and how he can lay WAY back on a groove. He's very Bonham.
Live-Erykah Badu
GROOVE! Drummer? Can't recall but I wanna groove like that!
All OZ NOY stuff. Carlock is just so much fun!
Ghost of a Dog-Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians
All Critters Buggin-Matt Chamberlain
Beautiful playing.
Double Live James Taylor-Carlos Vega. Man, what a sound, feel, and touch. So deep.
Any and all Jeff Porcaro. He NEVER played a bad note/groove.
Anything with Bill Frisell and Jim Keltner
Anything with Steve Khan and Steve Jordan.
The Steely Dan Box Set, Citizen Dan.
Rush-Replay DVD set.
Just a few that are fun anytime of the day! .gif) _________________ |

I think that it must be Poogie Bell, great job indeed.
I would say that the drummer/producer Vidal Davis has done an incredible work with Jill Scott's "Who Is Jill Scott ? Words And Sound Vol. 1", and also an amazing groove with Nuyorican Soul, a song named "I Am The Black Gold Of The Sun", INCREDIBLE !!!
All right. _________________ Vincent, Tain, Stewart, Fish, Jeff, Omar are the reason, many other and go The All Blacks !!! |

Warren Cuccurullo- Thanks To Frank. Vinnie's on the whole album, I think it was recorded in 2001 (?). A bit hard to find, but I think it's on DIME somewhere.
Also, someone mentioned the Rush Replay x 3 DVD set, but I want to make special mention of 'A Show of Hands'...man, that Simmons Clap Trap sound at the start of 'Big Money'. Crazy. _________________

Daniel Lanois - Shine
Brian Blad on that one.

gotta bump... this topic is irresistable.
Noel Okimoto- Ohana during my time in Hawaii, I met and heard Noel Okimoto, and discovered for myself one of the most talented people I have ever seen play any percussive instrument... this record is a great example: vibes, kit, hand held percussion-he kills it all.
Dave Weckl- Rhythm of the Soul I don't know why, but this is the Weckl (as a leader) record I am most drawn to. It just seems to have more groove to it.
Pat Metheny- The Road to You Paul Wertico. He plays the perfect part, every time.
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones- Live Art For some reason, a lot of drumset players I have met lately are bagging Futch. I wish I could play on a kit what he does on the Drumitar. But if you don't believe he can play kit... you're mistaken.
Vinnie Colaiuta-Vinnie Colaiuta I really shouldn't have to justify this one. I only hope he makes another one.
Delbert McClinton- Live From Austin My friend Harrell Bosarge is on the drums on this record. Delbert's band during that era was one of the best blues bands you'll ever hear.
Peter Gabriel- Secret World Live Manu Katche and Tony Levin. Peter Gabriel. A killer concoction. Live. Some of the greatest pop ever made.
Dave Matthews Band- Under the Table and Dreaming Carter Beauford is the cliche "favorite drummer" of every pothead in America, but this record demostrates a killer pop sensitivity without loosing that technical thing I love so much. Try and play some of these songs note for note all the way through. They're tough.
Anything Steve Gadd (that's a lot of records)
Anything Jeff Porcaro (that's more records than you think) _________________ "What are you going to do after a drum solo; shoot off a cannon?" -Paul Desmond |
