Re: Zach Danziger Master Thread
I was taking lessons from Wes Little (he's producing in Nashville now) in Raleigh back in '95.... I remember him mentioning a new guy (Zach) that I'd never heard of before, who Weckl and everyone else said was "on the level" as the new guy. So fluid, and so mature in his ideas, even as a 2...

Re: Omar Hakim interview
Omar was a monster from the beginning. His "I Burn For You" solo on Bring On The Night was a seminal moment for me in '85, right around the time I discovered Vinnie on Zappa's Tinseltown Rebellion. That moved me from my Kansas/Yes/Rush phase into Jazz/Fusion stuff.

Re: Steve Smith
https://youtu.be/4nKyjbUU0UU Those were the days - The first time I saw him was in '86 in Upstate NY, at a hotel ballroom clinic, right after VI's "Global Beat" came out. He was playing a beautiful 6pc Signature kit. I was in the middle of my transition out of playing Rush, had just disco...

Re: Steve Smith
Plus, he seems to be playing ahead of the beat, while Janek is laying back in the pocket. Feels a bit unsettled to me......

Re: VINNIE - The thread about Colaiuta
I see Josh and Manu are on Sting's new album.... Is Vinnie not working with him anymore, or did the timing just not work out this time?

Re: Zach Danziger Master Thread
Looking at that video of him in '89..... I'm surprised he wasn't in Modern Drummer earlier, Weckl clone or not.
I didn't hear about him until '95 when I was taking lessons from Wes Little in Raleigh, and he said, "Check out this guy.... Weckl says he's the next great one"

Re: Official Stewart Copeland Thread
Also, there's a cool documentary about Cold War espionage featuring Stewart's mother, father, and brother Miles
(No mention of Stewart, though)
