Re: Neil Peart

I was in the 7th grade when I got invited to a 'drummer hang'. My older brother's friend played drums and he invited me over after school. He introduced me to Rush and Neil Peart by playing the All the World's A Stage drum solo. It was mind-blowing. What an amazing body of work we've been blessed wi...

I'll certainly do that if I can't find one used. Cheers

Re: Phil Collins

Favorite pocket drummer of all time.

I want his drumset. Seriously, If anyone has one, let me know. I can't find one for sale. I don't want to settle for a concert tom set, I want the whole matching kit.

Cheers

Re: Home recording

Hey Rudy, Sounds good! I don't come on here much anymore either. I would suggest the gearslutz forum for some engineering/production feedback. They have a much larger community to draw from anyway. Just don't get caught up in any gear discussions. You'll soon find all your credit cards maxed out and...

Re: Al Jarreau has died

Sad news. One of my favorite artists. My drum teacher introduced me to his music. Here are some recommendations. Al always had great drummers playing for him! If you're a Steve Gadd fan, you already own these albums...(all Jay Graydon produced) Album: This Time (1980) Tracks: - Alonzo (Ralph Humphre...

Re: Perfect metronomic time

I'll offer my experience for what it's worth... I've been playing to click live off and on since 1992. Recently, I started playing to a click live for a country band I was playing in. Before using the click, the singer and guitarist were always complaining that the song was too slow or too fast...on...

Re: Perfect metronomic time

My favorite topic and obsession...there's nothing more enlightening and humbling than finding out your time sucks...it's a constant struggle for those of us not born with decent time...but it can be improved. I could write a book about my experience/journey on what works and what doesn't... I think ...

Re: Zach Danziger Master Thread

I'll see if I can get that old clinic uploaded. Surprised it's not out there. It's not my footage but I've not seen it online (I have it on dvd). He's playing a maple custom 5 piece. Does some blowing then plays along with a Leni Stern track in 3 I believe. Has no one seen this? The track he's play...

Re: Kinda OT: P90x and other workout systems

Whichever program you decide on, stick to it. I think that's the real secret. Any diet and exercise program you stick to for 90 days will give you results. I recently got back into working out regularly- I'm doing my own thing based on my experience. I work out at home so I don't have the excuse tha...

Re: Gary Chaffee is unretiring

Get used to playing a tight kick drum head and bouncing the beater off the head instead of digging it in. That's how his kits are tuned.
