KJ3 w/Dejohnette

Can anyone here recommend a "must have" Jarrett trio recording? I saw Still Live and Standards in Norway... However, if there is one or two that you feel is worth checking out, please let me know.

Freddie Gruber book?

Did Freddie Gruber ever release a book on drumming techniques? I saw mention that he did, but couldn't confirm it.

Steve Smith/Metalex

Can anyone shed some light on the recording(s) that Steve did with this group?

I know Jeff Andrews did one record w/Steve and this band.

I was curious to know if this was in the jazz vein or something heavier.

Help with a Tommy Igoe tune

I'll admit I don't have have the greatest ears when it comes to catching a certain thing that a drummer played on record at a certain time. That being said, If anyone has Tommy's cd New Ground, the tune in question is called Everybody's Boppin'. At the end, right before the crash catch/splash hit, h...

Frank Katz

I really dig Frank on the Brand X record X Communication.

I want to check out more of Katz's playing if anyone can offer something to get.

His book is nice too.

Any trouble with the Mike Stern dvd?

Has anybody had trouble with the Mike Stern dvd w/Weckl? The one @ New Morning.

I've held off getting it because I heard that the audio/video sync was off a little.

I'll get it if it's playable.

A lesser known (maybe) record feat. Weckl

Ran across a cd called Pleasure Seekers w/Weckl and Patitucci from '91. It's an Andy Laverne offering.

I've heard of the cd but never have listened... anybody have this or heard it?
Maybe give a quick review.

Re: Buddy Rich Memorial: Who was there?

NO SIR!!! THAT VIDEO IS NOT OF THE REHEARSAL! I BOUGHT IT THINKING THAT IT WAS SO AND IT IS ONLY HIGHLIGHTS OF BOTH TRIO PERFORMANCES FROM L.A. WITH SOME INDIVIDUAL CLIPS TOO. NOTHING OF A REHEARSAL...

Re: Weckl can't groove? Really?

Robert made some good points. What I was trying to convey was this... If another person and myself were watching the same gig or clinic and I liked it and they didn't, that's OK. I agree, not everyone likes the same thing. But don't say that it didn't groove or the guy can't play. The groove may not...

Weckl can't groove? Really?

I read a review last night of Weckl's Live and PLugged In cd from a guy who posted his "opinion" on Amazon. He said it was "boring" and just a chops fest. Weckl's playing "lacked groove" as he put it. Now, as far as I'm concerned, music (as in any other art form) is a m...
