Re: Official Virgil Donati thread

Glad you like it. Regarding a recording policy: Don't. Virgil does not approve of anyone bootlegging his performances and prefers to push out a lot of recordings of live performances that he recorded himself. Subscribe to his YouTube channel and Like him on Facebook, and you'll get a decent share o...

Re: Official Virgil Donati thread

From his current tour: [youtube_https:2tpuwc9v]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Byz9UmvD9-0[/youtube_https:2tpuwc9v] This song kicks so much ass! When I first heard the album this is the song that I kept going back to again and again. I'm so glad to find a video of a performance on the interwebs! Fo...

Re: BIG hi-hats

@willy- I love the sound of smaller hats, but when I started playing blues with the guys from my first band again I wanted something different. I use a 16" A custom (std weight) for the bottom and a 16" K Light for the top. I also have some 12" remix hats on an x-hat for tonal contras...

Re: Cymbals angled away?

I sit kind of high and I've noticed when I get up that the cymbal look like they're angled away. However when I sit down they look normal from my perspective. I guess it's the combination of the arm and tilter when I'm setting them up. No averse issues or differences to me.

Originally by Mongo Santamaria, then covered by John Coltrane (and some guy named Elvin Jones played the drums?).

Chris Dave on the drums for this version :)

Drum bags- Ahead or Protection Racket?

Ahead (Bigbang) used to distribute Protection Racket bags. Now Kaman distributes them and Ahead has their own line of bags. Has anyone tried the Ahead bags? Are they better/worse/same as the PR bags? I bought one of those Ahead snares when they first came out and fell in love with the quality/build ...
