Re: WHAT'S UP WEEKEND CHATTY!!!!!!!

I also practise in the car, just left hand. While driving. :| On the passenger seat, top of gear stick, dashboard, sometimes a snare drum on the passenger seat on the way to a gig. Usually to whatever is on the radio. I tend to avoid the steering wheel in case I set off the airbags. I try to remembe...

Re: WHAT'S UP WEEKEND CHATTY!!!!!!!

Hola! What are you guys all up to? Are you practicing hard and getting to the next level? Hah, I'm nowhere near the next level but yeah I'm practicing! I've stripped down to a minimalist kit to practise just hands and left foot and playing softly. I dusted off my old 10" S.R 10 hi-hats (I alwa...

Re: Assorted videos / YouTube thread

This is a cool documentary. There's no end to this guys genius. How does one human being have the ability to compose brilliantly, play almost every instrument - brilliantly, sing really well, produce professional looking cinematic videos from home superimposing himself multiple times, understand the...

Re: Home recording

Very good points Chris. I'm going to get hold of some thick blankets and something to hang them on. By the way, I've changed the video on previous page. I turned on the compression and it seems to be ok this time. It's slightly changed the sound of the snare. Note to self: must learn not to rush fil...

Re: Home recording

It's not ideal in a kitchen but try and get some absorbtive stuff on the walls. 2 blankets hanging from 2 coat racks.. or whatever you can do. If you clean the room sound up your setup will sound totally useable.. Right now it's good but a bit washed out.. Adding extra mics etc won't help it will j...

Re: Home recording

Thanks Steve. Yeah, I totally agree with you, and it's a learning curve for sure. More mics and proper EQ, compression, etc will help. I'd like to be able to get a warmer and drier sound. I think recording in my kitchen will hold me back as it just doesn't have the right acoustics to make the drums ...

That's excellent, what a great sound. And it's got a vintage Jill Scott vibe to it.

Here's a kid with one or two familiar but very well played Vinnie chops.

Re: Home recording

 Sorry for my little outburst the other day. Was tired and irritable. Thanks cjbdrm and Chris. Yes, you're right about gearslutz, lol. Interesting about TRS, didn't know it doubles the dB. But I guess I should get a couple anyway. I've messed around again with the kick mic. It's not a dedicate...
