Re: Gig vs studio - technique differences?
There should be no difference. The idea that 'studio' playing and 'live' playing are somehow stylistically different and require different approaches (or different technique somehow) is a myth. If anything, being put under the "studio microscope" will help to reveal issues in your playing ...

Re: Vinnie signs deal with Paiste.
..his style dictated this, but the equipment made it happen. The equipment "made it happen?" Part of the reason why I don't think this is as big a deal generally is because these guys can play on any of the big 3 cymbals and it will all. sound.fine. Jeff would have sounded like Jeff on Zi...

Ludwig would make sense to me, as it has more of an old-school sound and identity like Gretsch does. Plus, obviously he has quite a few Ludwigs in his snare arsenal. Re: Nothing "kind of" hip about Tom Hipskind!!
Thanks again guys! M13 is an insanely fun gig. Nine horns and 4 rhythm--it's kind of a "small big band" in a way. The leader, Aaron McEvers, does all the writing/arranging, and as you can hear, it's jazzy but also kind of fusion-ey too. ;-) I've got a Zoom Q3HD and I record every gig (usua...

Thanks so much, guys! You're too kind!!!
LOL Matt! I'll try to work on the seal calls. The sushi part is well covered, though it wasn't represented on this gig.
More later....gotta run for now, but thanks for posting, and for the compliments Steve!
