Re: Drum Camp topic: drum camp reviews and info

I went to Drum Fantasy Camp in Cleveland in 2010 with Thomas Lang, Tommy Igoe, Dave Weckl, Peter Erskine, and Jojo Mayer ( Im the one who took that now-famous picture of Weckl staring at Jojo's afro ). Overall it was a really good experience. I saw some incredible drumming, learned a bit, and met so...

Re: Gary Chaffee is unretiring

I just booked 16 hours over 4 days for a drumming vacation with Mr. Chaffee. I am over the moon. Of course I have all his books including the new one " Odd Time Stickings. " I would like to pick the collective brain @ HOD and find out what you all think I should work on in preparation for...

Re: Gary Chaffee is unretiring

The best thing I ever did (drumming wise) wa take lessons with Gary. Anyone, at any level, can learn lots from him!

Re: New Gary Chaffee Book

Ive not seen that actual book, but I worked through the sticking system with him, and like many things that he put out, it was life changing for me. Its interesting, because last time I spoke with him (via email), he said hes DONE with teaching. No clinics, private lessons, or anything of the sort. ...

I have a USA Custom in 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 22 in "Gretsch Orange" with matching snare that I've been contemplating selling. This set was the one on the cover of the Gretsch catalogue a few years ago. Also, Im good friends with the owner of Resurrection Drums in Hollywood Florida. Its a fant...

Re: Pete Zeldman new DVD

I didn't even bother reading about it, or watching the previews. I ordered it as soon as I found the link.

Pete is an absolute master of rhythm, and has influenced many of today's top drummers.

Great lesson, Steve. And yes, we DO need more drum videos, if they're done well. Yours are always done well.

They're thoroughly informative, and you're not full of yourself and acting like you're gods gift to drum lessons. Keep them coming; Ill gladly even pay for them if you were charging.

Re: Most Essential Drum Books?

Im all about Chaffee. Having studied with him, I think he really covered so much that drummers need and should want to know. He also did the near-impossible; he teaches creativity. I definitely recommend all 5 of his books, and a qualified teacher to guide you through them. A few people have mention...

Re: Music in Miami?

I was born and raised in The Bronx, NY. I have to admit that as rough as certain neighborhood were (especially back in the 80's), Ive never felt as unsafe as I have in certain parts of Miami. As far as drumming, there are some truly amazing players and teachers down here (Im in West Palm, about 1 ho...
