Re: Can we just talk Gretsch drums a bit.

I have 4 Gretsch kits. My favorites are NOT the flagship USA Custom. Broadkaster is a bop kit and sounds good tuned up high, which is where I keep it, but has trouble anywhere else Not sure I'd agree with that 100% (though I do agree with much of what you said). Just got a Broadkaster this past yea...

Re: NAMM 2018 thread!

Just listened to the Bill Detamore "I"d Hit That" Podcast where he talks about boycotting NAMM this year because, in his words, it's "obsolete", and how he booked a studio nearby in order to conduct business in an orderly fashion in peace and quiet. Really interesting perspe...

Re: Assorted videos / YouTube thread

Frank filmed a Drumeo segment last year - I wonder when it gets released. Not sure of the exact dates (they appear to be as of around Oct '17 based on the comments) but they've currently got two lessons up with Frank: "Building a Musical Vocabulary" and "Interview with Frank Briggs&q...

Re: I'd Hit That podcast interview series

Well, I may be a little late to the party but I just noticed that "I'd Hit That" appears to be back as of last month (Oct 15, 2017), with episode 101. The accompanying text begins with, "After a 19 month hiatus, 'I'd Hit That' returns with percussionist Lenny Castro". New episode...

Re: Remembering Kim Plainfield

Yeah, sad news indeed. I've literally spent years on just the first dozen pages, and all the possible tangents, from his book published by The Collective (the second link in beat hit's post). A really useful resource.

Re: Osami Mizuno's Alan Dawson books?

As someone who's unfamiliar with Mizuno's books, what would one find in them that isn't in John Ramsay's book? All I know is it's gonna take me *years* to fully master that one.

Re: Even more Gergo Borlai

Gergo's going to be giving a lesson on Drumeo this coming Monday (June 29) at 4:00 pm PST entitled, "Storytelling on the Drums". I think these Monday lessons are open to all and posted on YouTube afterwards; should be pretty interesting (and inspiring/frustrating!)
