Re: Official Virgil Donati thread

Great job, Jeppe. The layout is very nice. I really like the font and paragraph spacing that you use. One thing though, the link to "Urban Boards" doesn't work. It's the dreaded "404"

YES!!! And Christian & Herbie loved it, too. Huge barometer reading there.

Re: Official Virgil Donati thread

Jeppe -- That was mind-boggling. Aside from his technical wizardry, Virgil just grooves the stuffing out of it. I watched the video 3 times just to hear him play time mixed in with whatever incredible "chops stuff" Virgil plays (he does it with smoke and mirrors, right? No one can play lik...

Re: VINNIE - The thread about Colaiuta

That Robben Ford tune was just "NASTY"!!! What a feel!!! The intuitive playing starting @ around 5:46 is just WOW!! I'm a sucker for that type of stuff...goes back to my love of bop. Of course Vinnie's trading with Robben playing "Jean Pierre" is golden. Thanks, Rodge.

Re: VINNIE - The thread about Colaiuta

Julian -- That was the nicest thing I've heard in a long, long time. Pretty much a blueprint for how he plays musically, yet maintains his "Vinnie-ness" Thanks for that...it made my day. I hope Rodge doesn't get too upset that it's a Latin thing...or is it just when Weckl does it? :D (just...

Re: VINNIE - The thread about Colaiuta

Vai wasn't in Zappa's band when they were working on Mo's Vacation. That story is actually Aurthur Barrow's story, and it occurred while on tour in Europe, not in California. Not sure why Vai has made it his own. The chart Vinnie was reading at the time was for one of the horns; It wasn't a notated...

We've all read this story about a billion times...it's nice to actually hear Steve Vai tell it.

Re: Quarantine Chatty!

The first video that you posted many moons ago...tune in 7 is crazy amazing playing. You were channeling Vinnie the entire tune! Yeah...that was my "introduction" to Rodge's "craziness"!!! As a refresher (still a killer 16 years later)... [youtube_https:26i7vk4k]https://www.yout...
