Re: Official Virgil Donati thread
I had completely missed that Tribal Tech had posted this as an official bootleg recording. I had heard most of this before, and it remains a highlight for me. Actual Proof starting around the 30:39 minute mark, and Got Tuh B starting at 1:40:12 are bonkers. Virgil at 200 mph. https://www.facebook.co...

I miss Ed. What a deep swing groove. I used to see him all the time when I worked at Percussion Center Copenhagen.

Stay safe, Steve - and everyone else in those areas. The images coming out of L.A. are unbelievable and scary.

Re: Official Virgil Donati thread
Hey Joe,
Yeah, at least the 7/8 and cross-sticking clips have an audible click. I am unsure whether he uses it (but muted it for us, the viewers) in the other clips, but the first clip could be him working without a click.

^ I heard them live a few times. Brian Blade is out of this world. I love this unit. Lanois is a genius.

Re: Assorted videos / YouTube thread
I am digging Benny Greb's signature beech wood snare. Of course, it is massively produced here, but it always sounds good whenever I've seen clips of it.
It reminds me of the early-1990s Trilok Gurtu Sonor 10" snare.
