Re: Dennis Chambers Workshop
Chambers is proof there's no such thing as an "uneducated" or "self-taught" good drummer. This guy has sought out the best minds on the instrument and gained knowledge by mimicking and asking good questions (and putting in the time in the shed). I don't know why he thinks he's &...

Re: Old Scofield with D.C.
Yeah Dennis!! I loved those couple of records that they put out back in the day. Sco wrote(writes) GREAT tunes and the chemistry felt good with these guys. Compared to other acts from this era, this still sounds pretty fresh! I actually read in a recent interview where he told that he'd like to work...

Re: Jimmy Chamberlin
One of the greatest rock(and beyond) drummers of all time. He brought back a kind of a jazz sensibility to rock drumming, and refused to be the same ol' boring 2&4 guy with stock fills. You could tell he was such an important part of Smashing Pumpkins when they replaced him with Aronoff. No offe...

Re: Chris Coleman, "eating" Dave's "Spurs Of The Moment"
Over the top in a good and bad way. A Part of my brain is exploding because of Chris's incredible power, speed and precision. The other part of my brain tells me to hate this because of the sheer unmusicality displayed on a bland composition. Now I'm confused. His drumming abilities are out of this w...

Re: To rimshot or not to rimshot?
I used to rimshot about 99,9% of the time. But after witnessing Steve Jordan get so many different shadings out of the snare drum(f.ex. hitting a rimshot near the edge of the drum in a rockabilly song or getting a nice mellow sound by hitting dead centre with the butt end of the stick in a ballad et...
