Re: What heads are you currently using?

Insteresting stuff, cats! I've had problems with Remo's quality. A couple years a go I bought a batch of heads and after putting them on the kit the coating started come off right away. I called Remo up (don't remember off the top of my head with whom I spoke with), but they sent me an entire new ba...

Re: Vinnie and Bromberg

wow, sorry to have hurt your feelings. I didn't mean to make fun of Vinnie, more of the artists who make all those tribute records. Let's relax a bit. I doubt that's the way he looks at it. He probably just got a call, was told about when and what the session was, that they'll meet his rates, he ch...

10x8, 14x14, 22x18. Standard 14x5.5 snare.

I've got a 12x9 and a 16x16, but only bust those out every now and then..

Re: What heads are you currently using?

Drums are Tama Starclassic Birch, w/ die-cast rims. Maybe getting some different rims (S Hoops?) would help? Any suggestions? I think you're outta luck on that one. Tama uses proprietary mounting on their (IMO) stupid ultra heavy rims. You'd have to use a RIMS or other type mounting to change the r...

What heads are you currently using?

I'm wanting to change things up a bit, and am looking for suggestions. I currently use coated Ambassadors on the tops of all drums (Kick included) and clear Ambassadors on the bottoms (hazy on snare, coated Ambassador as the kick reso). I'm pretty happy with the kick sound, as I use a rolled up towe...

I trust someone will be sneaking in some sort of small, hand-held video recording device, yes?

Re: Advice Needed: How to Get Playing in Austin, Texas

Trust me, if you go about in Austin telling guys that you're a "fusion drummer", all you're going to get are some blank stares, and little to no phone calls. People tie fusion in with lots of chops, lotes of notes, and lots of wanking, which is NOT what's going to get you a gig. To be hone...

Steve, that sounds good to me... we can just link to the original in the first post and then just keep posting over here in the new forum.

Re: Advice Needed: How to Get Playing in Austin, Texas

Okay, well, first off, here's my post from the old forum when someone asked about Austin: *Ahem. Ah, Austin, TX. Well, without diving too much in to how I got here and making it about me... I've been here a little over two years. I was playing with people within a few weeks of being out here (thank ...
