Re: Recommended Music

These guys are just incredible live, the low end is absolutely NUTS. Like Porcupine Tree, their music doesn't really come alive on the record, at least to me. The Incident made total sense live, the huge chords needed the extra 1 more. But live, hole nuther deal. It's like a vortex of clear hair-blo...

Re: Happy 4th (US HOD'ers)

Hot as blazes here in Michigan...enjoying a good Founders beer and a couple sausages. Going to see some fireworks up close tonight. They light them off 50ft away from a friend's production facility. And hey, let's be careful out there, huh? Happy Fourth of July! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5jI92...

Re: Gary Husband playing in the studio - iDrum Magazine

After watching this and liking what I heard, I went to iTunes and picked up Gary's latest.

Sounds great, and there are a lot of great drum ideas to "borrow". :o)

Thanks Gary!

Re: Weckl's most scrumtrulescent solo...

There is still something to be said for playing in an ergonomic fashion. I was thinking about this the other day after reading a passage out of Gregg Allman's autobiography. Way back when, he was learning early on that you have to sing properly to be able to make it sound good and not hurt yourself....

Wow that is a HUGE groove. Man...that's why I love his playing so much. Balls and confidence, but grooving so freaking hard.

Re: Most Essential Drum Books?

I went through Wilcoxon's AASD last year.

I'm starting at the back and going to the front this year.

There are a TON of great "licky" passages, and there are some very challenging and interestingly phrased solos.

Re: Drum bags- Ahead or Protection Racket?

The clear plastic pockets on the PR stick bag is a nice well-thought out touch. If the next gen has a thin-film LED or LED strip illuminating the pocket, that would rock. One thing that bugs me about it is that my sticks fall out way to easily if I open it the wrong way, there is no real indication ...

Re: Meet the new boss

Hey, Communism is like sharing what you have. So share away...capitalism sucks anyway. Oh yeah, corporations suck, except when they give you a check. This just goes to show that you reap what you sow...artists bitch about the evils of the United States' development of trade and capitalism, but then ...
