Re: Gadd

...but then you go to see Gadd and it's a whole new ball game...his playing is so deep, man...DEEP! That's what becomes apparent to me when I see him versus just hearing him. It reminds me of an iceberg: the stuff on the surface is just a fraction of what is going on. That's why I don't think I'll ...

Re: Gadd

These two records feature Gadd & Anthony Jackson, with a bit of Lenny White and Jan Hammer thrown in. I lost my mind when these came out, and they still sound killer today. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61cNcL6kAgL._SL500_AA300_.jpg http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51XJwIkZrTL._SL5...

Beautiful!

Thanks for sharing.

Very nice photography of some very nice drums.

I like the epoxy resin idea for the bearing edge.

The snare has a very nice look, too.

Re: New snare porn

Very classy!

It looks great now all shiny and new, and it will still look and sound great 50 years from now, when it has darkened up.

Hey, what's that silver sparkle drum, and old Ludwig? I don't recognize the badge.

Re: Dry or singing drums?

I think the sound I have in my head is shaped mostly by what I grew up with, listening to a lot of old music, and playing a lot of old drums.

It is not very bright or resonant; it is instead dark and warm.

Re: The age old "chops vs groove" debate

Chops are a great thing to have. To be able to lay down a Killer Groove is wonderful, as well. Which is more important; which can you do without? I think everyone has their own answer to that. As a listener, neither 'style' ultimately determines whether I like a particular performance. I call it 'Ma...
