Re: Could use some help...

Lots of good advice here. I think the 'sideways' points that Pocketplayer and John Lamb made are good to remember. Why are you doing this? What are you going for? Your brain might not really know, and your heart doesn't know how to tell you. If you can find out, you can go directly for it, instead o...

Re: Groove Freedom App

A long time ago on the old forum, someone posted, "There is a place in this world for every kind of drummer." That phrase returns to me over and over. The important thing is just to do it, in whatever capacity. I believe the benefits of music, and drumming in particular, are enormous. Anyo...

...as I listen more, to the clock here at work, and the clave, it occurs to me that slight differences in volume can be perceived as differences in pitch.

Re: The Tick Tock Effect

I heard both when listening to the online metronome, tick tock and identical, depending on what I was listening for (expecting). I think this explains the variances I hear at work, when I often run clave at various speeds in the background. It seems like some of the notes are pitched slightly differ...

Re: OT: Robin Williams Dead

About 15 years ago, I was working at Fort Mason, on the third floor, overlooking Greens restaurant. Around midnight, I hear a knocking on the back door, to the fire escape. It's Robin Williams! He sa...

Re: PHOTOS: Shannon Forrest's new drum kit with TOTO!

Well, I'd like to see myself with Toto... Ha! I would like to see that too! And how many notes would it take? You think you could keep it as low as twice as many notes as Jeff used? ... (just having a little bit of fun, not trying to insult or judge) ... I like it when drum makers post here, and I ...
