Re: NAMM

the neil peart kit sure is pretty. each shell is dialed into his tuning. it's a tad overkill on the artwork. it works for them on stage. the cymbals have symbols! why? no one can see them. I wouldn't mind one of his snare drums. i'm sure they all sound great.

Re: Latin drumming teacher in LA?

if you do find a good teacher don't learn patterns. play the accents of the music.

Re: Gavin's GC Clinic

also if i remember correctly the chorus transitions to a different feel, perhaps based off the eighth note implied by the 7/8 feel. so to nail that transition it might be easier to think of it in 7/8 rather than 6 or 4 (and have to modulate the time based on the septuplet subdivisions). that's a lo...

Re: Matt Chamberlain

matt plays some great stuff on geddys solo record. love that record. like it better than some of rush's late 90's records. he made geddy's album breath. he played exactly what the music needed. the tune grace to grace is just killer.

Gavin's GC Clinic

can someone please ask him how the beginning of "cheating the polygraph" is in 7/8. if you play the tune you can clap in 4 or 6 and it works out perfectly. i guess he just squeezes in this 7/8 groove. played it for a bunch of musicians that know their stuff and they agree it ain't in 7/8. ...

Re: Sting Beck Vinnie Wilkenfeld people get ready

not the greatest rendition of this song. vinnie played good as usual. i can see why people don't dig jeff's style. i like it for some odd reason. ever since i heard blow by blow i was hooked. have all of his old solo stuff. the tunes are really good. he's has a very unique style. has great touch. ho...
