Re: The PICK ONE thread

Paula Abdul looked good in that Toto vid huh?? God, there are too many to list. I guess I will start when I was coming up and learning to play...then go somewhere in the middle of my years.....then what I am listening to nowadays over and over and over again. Stewart is the first...he is my favorite...

Re: Dave Elitch on Jimmy Fallon

Please explain to me the allure of playing for pop stars like her or Madonna or KeSha for that matter. I do love playing but the idea of supporting these non-artists is sickening. I just don't see it. It's playing 4 until you are blue in the face. No appreciation from the audience either Granted mo...

Re: One Way Out- Allman Brothers

It is very fast if you play the 8th notes on the ride, but to me, it sounds a little corny if its not played that way. My shoulder is usually ready to fall off by the time the end of the tunes comes. If I get fatigued on a particular night, I will do the quarter note- 8th note accent thing you menti...

Re: DAVE WECKL - Recent activity & Videos

I really liked that solo! It was more aggressive than I seen him do in the past. Sometimes it's tap tap tap - smooth as hell but light. He put a little ummph in that one...a great combination of his great smooth doubles and "put your ass into it"! Loved it.

Re: Improving your time keeping

I thought Weckl's last set of instructional video's - talking about playing time - more specifically, how your body movements dictate the time - really struck a chord with me. If you are consistant with your motions - say for example, you are playing 8th notes on the hi hat, and using a Moeller moti...

Re: Remo Coated Ambassador X

I use those for my 10" and 12" toms on my RC's right now. A nice go-between for the Ambassadors and Emporers. Too much for the snare for my taste, but yeah, great heads.

Re: Steve Smith and Jojo Mayer duet at VF

Steve Smith's playing was a lot more interesting in his earlier days. The last ten years, not so much....he does keep evolving though, and there is something to be said about that. Now and again there are highlights, and I will always click the Steve Smith vids when they are on here. I still liked t...

Re: Steve Smith and Jojo Mayer duet at VF

I think there is something wrong with ME. I liked it. I thought all different snare drums hitting at different times was kind of groovey and cool sounding. I've heard Steve Smith do his voice thing before - it wasn't really a surprise. It can get a little overboard, but I don't think it ruined this ...

Re: Check out the track I recorded recently!

If I were producing this...lol I kinda of like the quirky vocals with the weird intervals...but there was too much of that. I would tell her to tone it down a smidge. A little goes a long way - pick her spots to expand. I know it's her band and everything - but she needs the band to elevate the musi...

Re: I'm Ready for your Critique of my first Youtube Video

Steve Gadd on wipeout!! It's hard not to have Gadd as an influence.... I liked a lot of the ideas you had. Gadd-influenced yes, but it wasn't all Gadd. I loved how the snare sounded. Bass drum could have came up in the mix a little more - but I am listening to this on computer speakers at work. All ...
