Re: When a gig is done- moving on

Willy you never know what can happen. I had been in a very busy band for 2 years playing a mix of covers and compositions. There was a plan to record an album. The leader/composer kept adding new members to the band; we started as 5-piece and ended up as a 10-piece. It was fun but the pay suffered a...

Drumming Malapropisms

Perky-nose snare drum 2. Riser toms 3. Rider toms 4. Floor bass 4. Bass drum crawfish 6. Crush cymbals 7. Sq...

Queen Extravaganza

http://www.queenextravaganza.com/assets/img/promo/new_queen_header.png I heard about this because a local bassist here who plays in one of my previous bands got the gig. He has a nice relaxed and locked groove. Also two brothers from Montreal were finalists to personify Freddie Mercury and one of t...

Dunno why but I'm excited by it...must be the eternal teen in me... Never had the chance to catch the original lineup live. They're supposed to put on a major tour. Iommi is the ultimate "dark scary riff" genius! The tune "Black Sabbath" used to scare the hell out of me as a youn...

Re: Montreal Drum Festival

I wasn't at the Drumfest this year. They moved the date and it fell during our jazz festival which has a very good lineup this year. I caught Alain Caron with Damien Schmidt (really loved his original style), Ari Hoenig Quartet (groundbreaking), Maceo Parker with his son Marcus on drums (and ex Jame...

Re: Best Hatchback Vehicle for Drums?
