Ron Dunnet comment on Paul´s vid... "To be certain the most likely change you will see (or hear) is DW producing Gretsch shells for Gretsch..." That´s what we all fear the most. If true, really bad news imho. I don't question their construction methods per se, only their aesthetics choice...

With Gretsch, the silver sealer was most likely to cover knotty/imperfect inner plies. Although, the perhaps unintended consequence was to keep the interior rough with a gritty metallic paint. From a physics/sound standpoint, a rough/unfinished interior will provide a warmer sound and take away a "pinging" that can sometimes be heard.

I think John Good and company will mostly leave Gretsch alone. I think they'd have to understand the long heritage that the company has. But like I said, maybe they could improve the functionality of the drums. I.e. hardware etc.
