Re: Russ Miller leaves Yamaha- Yamaha moving to China?
One thing I really like about Yamaha are the tom mounts. They don't shake all over the place when you hit them. Resonance doesn't seem to be lost as much as people tend to argue. I can't tell a difference. Maybe if you mic it up in some bad ass studio and A/B the two types of mounts. But, for the mo...

Re: Vinnie's new cymbals
Vinnie loves the word "transparent". I wasn't blown away by that ride when he hit it - kinda pingy and higher pitched than I like, but probably has to be to cut in a musical environment - something not presented here - I do like the fact that the stick sound didn't get overpowered by the w...

Re: Russ Miller leaves Yamaha- Yamaha moving to China?
Regardless of how good the drums may sound and if they keep the same standard of quality, "Made in China" seriously devalues the Yamaha name in consumer minds. There's a stereotype associated with "Made in China" and I can't believe anyone in the R&D would think this is a goo...

Re: Russ Miller leaves Yamaha- Yamaha moving to China?
A lot of Yamaha artists are jumping ship - they make the Phoenix line and everyone bolts! haha The first artists jumping ship could've been related to Joe Testa being let go. But, it's an ongoing trend and that was a couple of years ago now. Rumors on other forums are saying the live customs are mad...

Re: Vinnie's new cymbals
Man there's some serious Z hate going on here. I wasn't tempted to switch to Ludwig drums or Paiste cymbals when Vinnie made the switch. Formula 602s are very pleasant sounding cymbals, but I thought they sounded too thin and brittle when I saw him play live with Sting. They definitely wouldn't cut ...

3rd & Lindsley Nashville Jan 2nd 7pm
I'm playing with Elise Testone on Jan 2nd at 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville if any of the HOD Nashville gang wants to hang - we are the early show before the Wooten Bros - 7pm start - 12 cover - Elise Testone finished 6th place on American Idol this past season. Hope to see some of you there. I nor...

Re: Steve Jordan with Clapton 12/12/12 concert on now
EC and the trio took everyone to school. Period. Stones sounded like the mess they've always been - The Who's set was too long and Bellboy was out of place in a set like this - was that a stab wound on Daltry's stomach? keep the shirt buttoned and stop trying to hit notes you can't hit or change the...

Re: Jojo's new pedal
Well well well - my experience with this pedal gets worse - the post actually has some play in it and moves while playing! WTF!!! The footboard wiggles where it meets the heel plate. WTF!!! Both movements product clicking noises. I made a video and sent it to the drum shop where I purchased it - the...
