Re: Gadd

Concerning the BRMSC: IMO Vinnie played stuff that was so alien and ass-kicking, we all wondered where the chops, and later on as we matured, just where the CONCEPTS came from. Also, I've always thought it would be wonderful to have a re-mastered version of the trio duel so that we could hear Weckl....

Re: Black Dub w/Brian Blade

If you like/love Lanois, Blade and Black Dub, you should check out the Lanois documentary, "Here is What is". I got it from Netflix. Very trippy in spots and an artsy film for sure. Also, as a BIG Lanois fan, I cant say enou gh good things about Lanois book, Soul Mining. Get it. It's amazi...

Re: When drumming takes a back seat….

John, There's no rulebook for times like this. Make her #1 and be there for her, as we know you will. You'll both get through this as her condition improves, and while this is happening, don't forget that the drumming, whether by yourself or with your band, is very therapeutic and essential for a re...

Re: HIROMI VIDEOS - SIMON PHILLIPS & ANTHONY JACKSON

Funny to hear the Toto news. I thought Steve Lukather put a message on his sight a while ago saying Toto was over for good?

Re: HIROMI VIDEOS - SIMON PHILLIPS & ANTHONY JACKSON

Yeah, Steve's "edge" isn't what it used to be, but, it's his journey (no pun intended) and we're either with his transformation or not. I personally need more spark in the players I listen to. BUT, the sonic quality of those Hiromi clips is amazing. So clean, crisp and deep in the mix. Who...

Re: Music Documentaries

I've always been a fan of Daniel Lanois, just read his outstanding book, and just received his Here Is What Is documentary from Netflix. Can't wait to watch it! Anybody seen it?

Re: Tuning....Secrets

If I could continue this based on my night at the Bitter End.... The band that played before Oz had a drummer who brought in a Tama kit with an 18" bass drum, 10, 12, and 14 toms, which I immediately noticed were tuned up WAY higher than I would ever tune any of my kits, but when the band start...

Re: Saw Joel Rosenblatt w/Oz Noy at the Bitter End Last Nigh

Ok, so on a proper computer now.. Let me start by saying that if you're in the NYC area on a Monday night, you definitely should check out OZ at the Bitter End. I first saw OZ back in Jan 2002 after the band I was in at the time had traveled from Florida to NYC to play CBGB on a COLD Monday night. A...
