Re: Ian Froman
Ian's fantastic. I was fortunate to study with him for a year during my one year at Berklee. He's a beautiful musician, wonderful teacher and a great guy.

Canadian Gowan dates/Texas clinic
Hey Guys, I hope everyone is staying warm. I'm looking at palm trees out my kitchen window swaying in the 19 degree air, and typing in between rolling blackouts of power! Anyway, I'll be at Sam Ash in San Antonio for a clinic on Feb 24th. And on a month off from the band I'll be doing 5 Canadian dat...

Re: Gowan's Criminal Mind with Styx/Todd
All great stuff...... There's also a great version of Back in NYC by Francis Dunnery. He's a great singer/songwriter who was actually in the running to replace Phil Collins when he left the band in '97. Great version here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRu-YnpCYGM[/youtu...

Re: Gowan's Criminal Mind with Styx/Todd
Jerry is unique in all the world. He's a character too, and I know a lot of funny stories through Gowan! But really, he doesn't think like anyone else. I always loved him but it went deeper when I had to replicate his parts on the Strange Animal record. It really was a challenge. Check out the track...

Re: Gowan's Criminal Mind with Styx/Todd
Thanks for the kind words, guys. The Gowan shows were fantastic. They sold out in minutes and felt like it really was an event. As I said, we did the Strange Animal record in order and then did about another 9 tunes. We'll be doing the same thing (I think) in March where we'll do two or three dates ...

Re: Gowan's Criminal Mind with Styx/Todd
Hey Tombo, Thanks, man. That was from 10 years ago! Definitely a "Styx" version of that one. Jerry Marrotta and Tony Levin played on the record version that Gowan recorded at Tittenhurst Park. (John Lennon's old estate that belonged to Ringo at the time.) Last year I did two solo shows in ...

Re: Vinnie's ride on 'Secrets'
When I saw Vinnie live in '88 and '90, he was using a 20" K Custom. That would be my guess for Secrets.

Re: Tears of Joy/Todd Sucherman transcriptions?
Hey Terry, Those are correct! Actually the piece is in 13/8, so what's down as 16th notes should be 8th notes. The 8th note rate is pretty brisk. I always thought it was in 13/16 but Jerry Goodman says otherwise. It is easier to feel that part of the tune as a bar of 7 then a bar of 6. I'll be filmi...
