Vinnie actually plays that one quite a bit, he also drops both left hand strokes at the end and replaces them with kick. Elvin was playing these licks in the 50s! :) yea to me it sounds like elvin did it when playing uptempo ,but he put all the rights on his ride and instead of the bass drum he use...

put that lick on paper so you know where it lies in the subdivision, that way when ever you go into your new lick you know your going to make it out safe
