Re: Boston

It's an insane world we live in. We all being musicians come from love and passion. This why discussions get heated and we want to kick each others asses, but when it comes down to it, we hug and embrace and respect our differences. Don't know if you noticed, musicians always hug other musicians. Ev...

Re: Russ Miller leaves Yamaha- Yamaha moving to China?

Yamaha makes top of the line professional drums. So do most great drum makers. Sakae will also make great drums. So you don't like be-bop tuning? Any drum kit tuned in that manner will sound that way, regardless of the brand name. I've heard PHX model drums sound terrible, and I've heard CB700 drums...

Re: Steve Hass new youtube channel!

Deep Fried, really? Do you still think that after the fills at 1:54 and 6:37? For someone as creative as Hass is, especially with Ravi Coltrane, John Scofield, Tim Lefebvre and Adam Rogers, he sure plays these handcuffed gigs very well.

Re: Russ Miller leaves Yamaha- Yamaha moving to China?

I wish I could practice. Groober. I know the "guys" too. Not the guy, the guys. The people in this forum that are on the inside know what I'm talking about. I just thought I would share. Not ill informed, arrogant? Maybe because I have real info. Immature, after re-reading I read nothing i...

Re: Russ Miller leaves Yamaha- Yamaha moving to China?

I agree Groober, and having not been here for a while, it's not pleasant posting something and having it be controversial. My tone in my first post in this thread was not pompous or condescending, however I found the posts telling me I was wrong a little condescending, especially considering that I'...

Re: Russ Miller leaves Yamaha- Yamaha moving to China?

It's actually not speculation. They are on payroll, signature products or not. But hey, believe what you want as it makes no difference. I can't divulge how I know this because revealing that in a public forum would be disrespectful, but it comes directly from the people involved. WillyZ I was sayin...

Re: Songs identifiable by the drums

Sing Sing SIng, Hot For Teacher, 50 ways to leave your lover and Sunday Bloody Sunday. I don't agree with most of the suggestions. Identity and Association are completely different. The identifying part of pretty woman is not the drum part. It's the guitar riff. The motown beat in the tune is in man...

Re: Russ Miller leaves Yamaha- Yamaha moving to China?

This is what I have heard from some friends who are Yamaha Drum artists. Yamaha is not moving to China. Yamaha is a Japanese company. The prototypes are all made in Japan and The U.S and will now be sent to China for production. Even the high end lines I believe. This is no surprise as China is a ch...

Re: Steve Hass new youtube channel!

Haven't been to this forum since 2012. It's nice to be back. I caught this video from Steve Hass' twitter and blew me away. His time is pretty much the most solid I've ever heard live. I've been working on my time constancy lately and it it has been an area I listen to when checking out gigs. Nearly...
