Wow. That was... pure. Great song and voice, and Todd, it's been said before, but you are such a class act.
It just goes to show, all you need is an acoustic guitar, a Honda cardboard box and a nice summer's day!
Brings to life fond memories of Gadd on that Ampex box...

I hear you loud and clear, even though I'm happy to say that I've learned to appreciate the "new" Dave as well!

Weckl's most scrumtrulescent solo...
...can, in my humble opinion, be found in this live rendition of Ha Ha Hotel back in 1995: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnl8RXSknbI This concert aired on national television here in Sweden when I'd barely been playing for a year, and it changed my entire notion of music and drumming fundamentally....

Re: Need help locating a Rick Marotta video!
Wow, HOD never fails! Thanks a lot, guys! The "James Taylor sings to Oscar" clip was the one I was thinking of! Can't believe I didn't remember the Sesame Street setting; I suppose that's either a testament to Rick's profound groove, or to me being a huge blinkered drum nerd! :) Big thanks...

Need help locating a Rick Marotta video!
Hi guys! Some years back I saw a video (I believe it was here on HOD) of Rick Marotta playing with a band/artist; can't remember which, and I've been wanting to see it again ever since. Are you guys familiar with Barrett Deems?
Well, if not, you'll be a little more familiar with him after watching this; I thought it was a cool clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3EdQpJnlhU I hear he was quite the character, and that Buddy once confronted him regarding his claim to be the world's greatest/fastest drummer. Who knows... Doe...

Re: Drum soloing 101 with Jeff Hamilton
If that's Soloing 101 then I'm scared shitless of the Advanced course!
But seriously, thanks for posting; the kind of playing that soothes a soul scarred by an overabundance of Pro-Tooled productions devoid of dynamics and personality...

Love Steve's playing (as well as everyone else's!) in Nathan East's nice little "life of a session player" clip:
