Re: Jimmy Branly "kills" with Otmaro Ruiz

Jimmy is quite underated. I love his playing, primarily his Latin Jazz approach.

Re: Steve Hass new youtube channel!

Drummers such as Denny Fongheiser, Bun E Carlos, and Joey Kramer all keep that cymbal dampened and tight. In Hass' case I believe it comes from playing jazz and executing left foot rhythms. If that cymbal is too loose, it's not possible to be accurate if you're attempting to play rhythms with your l...

Re: Steve Hass new youtube channel!

I hear you Juan. My point is that in those situations the musicians are at the mercy of the artist, producer and engineer. There are many recordings where I love the performance and hate the sound. Case in point when you hear someone like Vinnie Colaiuta on various recordings his sound changes like ...

Re: A single approach to technique vs a variety...

I say whatever works for you is what you should go with. Jojo Mayer is naturally physically gifted, aside from the hours he put in mastering the various hand techniques. Moeller does not come naturally to me, but I have very fast finger technique, so that's what I use. There is something to be said ...

Re: Female Drummers

I don't agree. A) I didn't say Tal and Will are equal. I said they should not be treated differently based upon their sex. I didn't contradict myself. Rene I'm not a worshiper of any known drummer. I contribute my opinions to threads like anyone else. The SH youtube thread I posted in has many other...

Re: Female Drummers

Yes, I read your post. Did you read the title of your thread? Female Drummers. We're talking about them. You said you started this because there are less female drummers than male drummers. That doesn't make sense. A drummer is a drummer, whether they are black, white, gay, straight, asian, american...
