Re: Great Promo vid from Alain Caron
This video reminded me of the talk of Vinnie and Keith Carlock moving to other companies.. To me, This is how it's done I don't know how long Alain Caron has been with Mark Bass, but I know he used to be with Roland.. This video is killer, shows why he plays what he plays and what' so special to hi...

Re: Smith & Journey...almost
Neil is and always has been the king of melodic rock guitar. Luke is great as well, but Neil has a more emotional feel...perfect pairing w/Perry in the early days. I feel the exact oposite :P but I got to hang out with Neal for a couple of days when he toured Europe with Soul Sirkus and my buddy Vi...

Re: Grp Super Live In Japan 87
That No Zone tune is killer. Weck's playing in that tune is god like. The way he builds up the groove around chicks solo is just amazing. Phrase after phrase. The weckl songo is pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty good in that song. If I want to get inspired I listen to that sec...

RIP Doc Watson
A big part of the soundtrack to my life, the best flat-picker the world has ever seen, has died.
Doc Watson was 89. RIP.

Re: Other cymbal makers?
I used to sell drums (and cymbals) for a living and usually it would be evident that the three big brands (Sabian, Zildjian, Paiste) would last longer, but sometimes other name brands like Istanbul (Mehmet or Agop), UFIP, Meinl etc would last way beyond what would be expected of them. I personally n...

Re: Official Virgil Donati thread
Some Holdsworth/Donati/Haslip madness. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X86YNdkqNoI It reminded me a bit of the bootlegs from ca 1997 of Virg with OTV/Gnomes Of Zürich and also with Tribal Tech. Those shows had such intense playing that it left me breathless: http://soundcloud.com/morgenthaler/tt-virg

Re: Head question- G2 vs. emperors
I disagree... I like to try new things (especially heads that are pretty cheap) in order to find new and inspiring sounds... Of course. But when you love something, there is no reason to go anywhere else. I love my wife and son, but I think I will keep searching for something to love more. LOL I've...

This. I have tried other heads but remo always sounds best to me.
+1
I used to sell drums for a living (for 7 years) and I've probably played +1,000 drum kits.
For warmth, tone, punch and volume, I'd prefer Remo every time.
