Re: GAVIN HARRISON - VF signature sticks video

The sticks are in the same ball park as the Vic Firth "Rock" model - which I've been using for the past few years. I think the balance on these new ones are actually better and possibly the best balance I've ever felt (and I have the guys at VF to thank for that). They are big sticks - and...

Re: Vic's Drum Shop, Chicago - AMAZING!!!!

Great time at Vic's Drum Shop on Saturday - met so many people my head was spinning.

sorry but I had to pull the videos. Sounded too bad to my ears and I prefer to control the quality of the stuff out there whenever I can.

good to meet you Jeremy!

cheers

Re: Letterman drum solo week II

Thanks guys. that was intense - and I finally slept well. @Clint. Paul Shaffer's son has drum lessons - and his teacher suggested me to Paul. So that's how I got invited. @Rodge. you can pick any song you want and they'll make an arrangement of it. I just though "The Chicken" would be good...

Re: Letterman drum solo week II

OK Guys - I've done it. For better or worse it's done. That is a really high pressure situation - (I just saw Tony Royster in the hotel and he felt the same) and for me being someone who NEVER plays solos - it was a real challenge too. I tried to get the mix guy to put some reverb on the drums - but...

Re: GH plays Futile Big Band Style

Regarding he recording of the audio on the big band "Futile" tune. I spoke to the sound engineer before I came to do that clinic and he offered to multi track record it for me. He had a Presonus 16.4.2 firewire desk and he hooked it up to his MacBook Pro and recorded the whole clinic using...

Re: GH plays Futile Big Band Style

Thanks Guys - it's from the last clinic I did in the UK 13th of June. When they told me it was in a church I was expecting a terrible sound - but it turned out nice.
Wish I'd brought more cameras with me.

cheers

Re: The Loudness War

Interesting topic and one which is very close to my thoughts. When I started attending mastering sessions I got really freaked out how much the drum sound could change (for the worse)...and the relative mix could be altered. It almost felt like a re-mix. I thought surely - we want it to sound just l...

Re: Wood Hoops

I just got a 13" and 14" wood hoop from custom drum maker Gary Noonan in the UK http://www.noonandrums.com/ he makes them with brass inserts so you don't mash the hoop with rim shots and you have "two tone" side stick sound. You can side stick the wood or the brass. you can see a...
