This is a an absolutely great line-up!
My favourites are there. Many come with a band wich is more enjoyable.
Heredia and Schmitt trios should be hot!

Re: From drums to guitar
I've seen a documentary and read somewhere that neuroscientists agreed at a convention that music improvisation is human's most complex and skill demanding activity. I think I would agree with that. Imagine the sheer amount of brain power it takes from seeing/hearing chords to sending signals to you...

Re: From drums to guitar
I won't quit drumming but for now it has less appeal. Probably the novelty effect. In my case I had tons of respect for guitarists. They were magicians to me with all the intricate fingering on a 150-note neck; I felt I could never touch it. But now that I can play some things and understands the lo...

From drums to guitar
Been away form HOD for quite some time. Happy to see good ol' Vinnie still going strong here. And WTF: Vinnie on Ludwig (yuk!) and Paiste (yes!), what happened?? Nowadays you can find me on the overwhelmingly crowded guitar side of the internet. Last autumn was the last gig of my fusion band and the...

Re: The Best & Worst Things Of Being An Older Drummer
The bad: Having a hard time finding musicians your age that want and can play jazz.
The good: Switching to guitar and discover a whole new world...

Re: Music in Miami?
Back from Miami. 4 deluge days, 3 sunny days. Was working downtown, staying in South Beach. Being a latin jazz zealot I was counting on the Arturo Sandoval Jazz Club, but it was closed. Arturo recently moved to CA. Pretty much a cultural desert. But!...the HOTTIES!! Gee...!!! I was in a tiny oceanfr...

Music in Miami?
I'll spend next week in Miami for business.
Can't seem to find anything interesting musically on the net.
Suggestions?
Gigs, clubs, jazz, latin, stores, drumshops...or anything worth seeing??
Thanks

Re: Musicians' biographies?
Wow thanks. Great recommendations!! They have some of these at my local library. Drummin’ Men by Burt Korall is pretty good. Also !Caliente! on latin jazz greats. I read Ozzy's autobiography and was continuously laughing out loud and pissing in my pants! That guy is NUTS!! Just finished Ace Frehley’...

Musicians' biographies?
I like to read musicians' biographies, prefering autobiographies.
Be it of jazz greats or decadent rockers, as long as it is a good/fun read.
Any recommendations?
