Re: Drummerworld's "Top 10 Drummers of all time"
I've always had a lot of difficulty in narrowing the list down to a single, solitary ten entries. There are just way too many cats that I'm into, cats who influence me or have influenced me. The list just gets way too long and out of control. But I can appreciate the lists, because it's always an in...

Re: Stick Quest
I also can't say enough about Todd's sig. stick. For me, it's pretty much perfect. 5B in size, with that acorn tip and made of maple. I swear by them, and I always try to have a whole slew of 'em in the bag. I tried them on a whim. He did a clinic at a drum shop about 15 minutes from my house (of wh...

Re: Robbie Ameen
Awesome stories Tombo, I do dig it! I'm also a huge fan of that Live! album. Brilliant, brilliant stuff. When I first started to play with the guys I play now, the keyboardist of my group (who is like an encyclopedia of rhythms and grooves, Latin and otherwise) asked me how familiar I was with Guagu...

Re: Robbie Ameen
That book is amazing, and has done WONDERS for me. It really helped me get into playing grooves like Guaguanco, Songo, and others. He's a kickass player, just always killin'. His playing with Ruben Blades is wonderful! (as is all of his work, really) Truly a favorite of mine and a huge inspiration.

Re: My 10th year on HOD
I remember the brown forums too! I, too, found this place while looking for Weckl videos. It was also here that I was really turned onto Vinnie, a wonderful thing indeed. It hasn't been quite 10 years for me, but rather 8 or so I believe. It took me awhile to start posting at first, but I quickly gr...

Re: New Years Eve gigs anyone?
I did the "double-duty" thing myself. Played the first gig at a theater in a nearby city, with several other bands on bill. Backlined kit (a Yamaha Stage Custom that was actually quite nice), and it was nice and simple. We did about an hour there, and then went to do the next gig, which wa...

Re: What do you guys do with your old heads?
I usually either take the ones that are in particularly good condition and save them for spares (usually one for each drum on the kit), or I hang on to them and use them on the practice kit in the band studio.

Re: Gowan's Criminal Mind with Styx/Todd
An incredible performance all the way around. I remember when I first stumbled upon that one, I was geeking out with all my drummer friends. Todd Sucherman, you are absolutely the man.
