Hey all. Joe Testa who works for Vic Firth produced these VERY cool videos at the Vic Firth website. Very cool to see what goes into the technology of making sticks, mallets, etc. I really liked the Abe Laborial vids. That dude is soooooo deep and groovy. You can imagine the band playing in the back...

Re: Vinnie/Gretsch divorce?
I still have my old Ludwig chrome snare from 35 years ago. Was always a dependable sounding snare. I remember Ludwigs were really popular 35 years ago when I used to frequent Mel Zelnicks music stop. I think Mel sold Slingerland and Ludwigs mostly. Anybody know anything about who makes Ludwigs shell...

One of you guys gave me one of the the dogcheese DVD's w/Vinnie. If I'm not mistaken, I think it was after and HOD hang at NAMM at Chris's house. When Danny was burning DVD copies for hours. Good times!

Josiah.....If you go back and read what I posted slowly and carefully, you'll notice I agreed with you on some things. Just for your information....I've been a professional mechanic for the past 35 years. Its what I do. From building racing motors, to fabrication, to research and development, to tea...

Re: NAMM 2012
I'd like to go and hook with with the HOD clan. Anybody else going? Anybody want to put something together one day, evening or for an HOD dinner or something? Plus...does anybody have a connection for a pass? Since Joe Testa left Yamaha, my connection has dried up. I'd like to check it out this year.

Re: Buddy Rich Memorial: Who was there?
I've heard that Vinnie was really not as well-known (outside of studios in LA/NYC and certain circles) as Weckl and Gadd at the time. Would anyone here reckon that was true? Yes and no. Vinnie had already been on the cover of MD twice. I still have that 1987 copy some place talking about how he ble...

Re: Buddy Rich Memorial: Who was there?
Steve is correct. Not only was I there for the performance, I was also there for the rehearsal and dress rehearsal. Those were magical times. On par with Hogwarts or the Shire. Not to spill the beans Chris, but didn't you or somebody have some footage of backstage goofing off of Weckl playing the w...
