Re: Cindy on Dennis's drums....
This thread is weird. DC's snare always sounds thin and his toms very choked. It's the same live Pearl sound Chambers had in the 80s. Check out Scofield's 'Pick Hits' and tell me that's not the same sound. Just a matter of physics. CB's 1/3rd the size of Chambers. Small woman + thin-sounding drums =...

Re: Doğaç Titiz
I can't decide on this guy. Technically, he's pretty good, though his doubles/diddles sound kind of tight for a guy of his level of playing. I guess I see/hear conviction, but no real passion. I think it has something to do with ... "here's this idea and now here's this idea ..." It's not ...

Re: KEITH CARLOCK - Montreal Drum Fest 2012 Vids
This is one of those times where I don't want to perceived as a hater. But here goes. Keith's groove feels great on here. I like how he's kinda dancin in his seat as he's grooving ( part 2 ). His groove stuff is solid and I'm glad he's successful. He deserves it! Drum mix is a big WTF ( not his fau...

Re: Big Weckl announcement?
Random search found this 56min video: Great solo here >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNWfnI585fM#t=34m31s Just flat amazing stuff. It seems like this is beginning of the era when Weckl would really try to develop an idea. IMO, when he was younger he would get bored with an idea after 2 or 3 bar...

Re: Big Weckl announcement?
Got the week off so I've been indulging all my old Weckl albums. All of them. I've decidedly leaned towards the Access Denied go-for-it rockin' fusion vs. the Masterplan era. In fact, Access Denied was a great sound and a fun song that was still definitively Weckl Band. So ... someone make that happ...

This. I'm a fanboy and I've even purchases shoes that Weckl endorsed.

Re: Big Weckl announcement?
Here's an idea: how about a little narrative on what you'd like to see from this project? - Which drummer should Dave record with? - What genres should they cover? Maybe a rock tune? With a singer? Some straight ahead Jazz? - Which guest artists should be on there? - What kind of sound should Dave ...

Ugh. Only Mike Clark should play these songs. Weckl/Vinnie are messing with an institution, IMO.

Re: MP's rage outburst on stage.
Young high school college friends + almost instant success playing indulgent prog rock = arrested development.
I kind of pity the guy.
