That's experience maybe, he's not playing to clicks, it's a bit Tonyish. It's like he purposely rushes through fills to be able to build a little tension for the next sec...

Re: Best drum head brand for retaining tone

Evans on drums are like playing with nylon tipped sticks.

I guess if you need max attack, like for metal, you could go that way. I find them too punchy and thin.

Re: Developing Consistent/Solid Time

I think knowing how a vocalist will sing is very important, or even a soloist. Knowing that allows you to feel the music more deeply than if you were to just practice with a metronome. However, practicing with a metronome is also important, but not just blowing notes, but playing simply for long per...

Re: SIMON PHILLIPS - The thread about Simon

I originally tried to scope that area out to record, but those guys would not stop talking.

Then after the show, they huddled around SImon and talked his ear off.

Well I don't think anyone would argue the range of motion is limited vs. matched grip.

Re: MSG's NJ-NY-NYC gigs

Congrats on the gig! Being in a tribute allows some marginal personalities the experience of losing their minds. I have seen shit you wouldn't believe. The guitarist for Furthur came from the Dark Star Orchestra, which are a good group, been around for years. Not sure how delusional he is. These guy...

Re: Metal drummers

Jim Richman knows his metal. RIP Oderus. The show at Harpo's in Detroit I saw twenty years ago was the craziest shit I've ever seen. The drummer was actually pretty good. The music had some complicated arrangements. But what was really entertaining was the hot blonde on the side of the stage with he...

Re: Vinnie's New Kit (w/pics)

Hey, he said he restored AVH's Fair Warning kit!

That is one of my favorite kits of all time.

That's badass.
