Re: Dream Theater

Shoot you know... I'd take that gig in a moment. And would "LOVE" Dream Theater music. No, but really, I would take a gig like that no matter what. Mike played the part perfect. And heck, if funding was not an option, and it was a big stadium act like that, Shiiiit ever seen one of Grant C...

Re: Dream Theater

I don't think a Berklee professor makes as much as you think, I would be surprised if they made 50k/year. Plus, it seems like he could always go back to that as well (prof's at music schools often leave and return for music reasons). Not like Mike doesn't have OTHER gigs as well, the guy prob could ...

Re: Dream Theater

I know nothing about the music business. I'm curious for those who can give an educated guess what does something like this mean for Mike financially. Would he receive weekly pay or monthly. Are things like health insurance included? How much could he make in a year? Haha I don't think they have he...

Re: Dream Theater

So guys, it is a big deal to play for DT ? Mike is happy, I'm happy for him, but I did not thought that playing for DT would be such a big deal, but I'm not really into prog band too, and I know that this kind of music, they have A LOT OF fans, it's almost like a sect. So I guess that playing for D...

Re: Dream Theater

Rush was ground breaking, I don't listen to them. But I understand the significance of what they did at the time. I never got into DT because, as a drummer anyway, Mike's playing seems so sterile. It's so obvious he has about 4 licks and ALWAYS uses them. No matter what album, etc Though I do respec...

Re: Dream Theater

I noticed the thing about the shirt as well... other option is the "welcome to the family" bit is fake as well.

btw, things like that are called continuity in motion picture making. In this case, someone wasn't paying attention...

Re: Single strokes (how to develop them)

Totally Matus, technique encompasses a wide range of issues, from consistent sound to touch, feel and groove. I would even say things like sight reading and interpretation fall under technique, not necessarily physical, but mental. Learning songs is what great drummers do, not fast singles. Having a...
