Re: R.I.P - GEORGE DUKE

This band was simply amazing. Groovy and funky and ripping.

Re: One Way Out- Allman Brothers

I liked how the Jaimoe and Butch would flip the downbeat every once in a while, kept it bouncy and not static-y.

Re: One Way Out- Allman Brothers

The star of this tune is the slide, I'd lay out and keep it solid, business would get in the way. Some interaction during the solo. I wonder what to call the beat that is alternating doubles between the SD and BD, second snare note ghosted. That's what I'd play. I'd def push the band too. I'm readin...

There are a few dvds of stuff with chester out that are good, one is due soon, the roxy show.

Listened to Inca Roads the other day. Holy shit that is some hard playing. Chester was a super powerhouse.

Re: Just saw Marco w/ The Aristocrats Thursday night

They're playing a small club here in MI, The Token, on Aug 12th.

Marco is great and all, but Guthrie Govan is one of the sickest guitarists I've ever seen.

Re: Dave Elitch

Used to cover a couple TMV tunes in a proggy band a few years ago.

Fun, but totally exhausting tunes to play, Cicatriz ESP and Roulette Dares, and we'd take them far out. Tons of fun.

Re: DAVE WECKL - Recent activity & Videos

I remember first seeing that Maintenance Shop vid on ARTS or A&E or whatever that station was called...they had Tower of Power too, but I didn't get how difficult was David Garbaldi playing, I thought it was kinda simple, but still really cool. Maybe it was his laconic style. But the Chick vid w...

Re: Monster musicians backing mainstream stars

One of the baddest guys to play drums that I've ever seen is Jonathan Moffett. His gigs don't really get bigger, and he totally kills everything...consistency, creativity, control, chops. He was on SNL with Janet Jackson and laid this groove down that was as steady and powerful as anything I've ever...
