Re: Any NYC cats on the board?

I was thinking about checking out a set at the Vangaurd one of these nights... I leave Sunday afternoon. I'm staying with an old friend who lives literally right next to the Empire State Building... anything in that area worth checking out besides the typical touristy stuff I've done in previous tri...

Any NYC cats on the board?

Hey Gang,

I'm headed to New York for a long weekend (currently connecting in Memphis) vacation... anybody know of anything going on?

I was stoked to go to Birdland on Friday, but according to the website Tommy Igo isn't playing- wonder who the sub is?

Re: Carlock's bass drum sound

I'm pretty sure in his Modern Drummer cover story it lists a clear Powerstroke 3 and he's always got a stock reso head going on. Re: Joe Morello passes away

Matt Starr, a good mate of mine (killer player based out of LA, also a cat I learned a lot from), was a long-time student of Joe's. Check out his blog for a great read about his experiences with the master himself:

Re: Joe Morello passes away

Just posted on my facebook, so I may as well copy and paste: Huge loss for music- Joe Morello has passed. I remember sitting right next to his kit at a clinic at LAMA. The guy just knew things about the instrument that changed the drums for all of us. He will be missed but his legacy lives on... &qu...

Re: WAAAY Off topic-What would you do!!!?

I always enjoy playing clubs back to back... sometimes you can leave the gear there, soundchecks are easier each night... Oh I know.. and for an artist who wants to "make it", does her originals throw in with the covers etc, it's just about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Who turns dow...
