I didn't really realize I was doing it until listening back to a bunch of recent recordings. I'll definitely be more aware going forward.

Must have been all that Bruford worship when I was younger.... ;) :lol:

Where do you have them on your kit for quick access? I hate having them lay on the floor tom or bass drum. Does anyone make a stand or something that makes them easily accessible in the open position?

Acoustically, rim shots seem to sound great, but when I'm playing a mellower groove (either softer dynamic or slower tempo for example), I think avoiding the rim may work better for the microphone and recording.
