Re: Rim Shots

I'm not getting a weak or choked sound with rim shots at all, but I think I'm starting to prefer the beefier sound of the drum, minus the transience of the rim shot. Maybe not. I'll give it shot and see how it comes out.

Rim Shots

I think it's time I stopped playing so many rim shots. I'm not digging the sound anymore. I'm about 2/3 of the way finished on a new "Trio of Stridence" record, and it's coming along nicely, but the sound of my rim shots is getting to be too much. I'm going to consciously try to avoid rim ...

Re: My band's debut album...!!!

Congratulations! Wow, you guys recorded live all playing together? That is a LUXURY! That is definitely the way to go, but man, how did you find the time to get everyone to rehearse? How were you guys able to afford the whole project? I wish you the best of luck with it. It must have been a lot of h...

I find Bill Stewart's physical approach awkward and uncomfortabe to watch, but I love his playing and sound.

Re: Vinnie & Tal at The Roxy

The sound was abysmal. I hate The Roxy. Tal sang lead most of the night, with another girl playing guitar and singing lead occasionally, playing music from her upcoming record (I guess), which is a major departure from her first release of instrumental music. The sound was so bad that I couldn't rea...

Re: New vid from yours Truly

Share some video playing along to some music, or some playing that maintains some sort of pulse/motif. If you want to solo, experiment with playing off of a short rhythmic phrase, interspersed with all of your other ideas. With more repetition, you give the listener "hooks" to latch onto. ...

Re: Justin Faulkner

I don't find his playing too busy or overly "heavy" at all. I really like what he's doing a lot. I'd like to see/hear him live.
