I know what you mean Rodge. Actually I really liked the bell of the ride he used on Tom Scott's Desire album. A very distinctive kind of old Avedis Zildjian bell sound. Great record too.

I gave up looking for a better solution - and I stopped trying to trigger in a live situation. Post production triggering is still something I occasionally do - mainly on the bass drum if I feel it needs it. The best thing I've found for that is the excellent Drumagog.
