Re: BENNY GREB - New videos

I wish, wish, wish he'd do more as part of a major artist's project though, rather than just music through his own lens. I know he hasn't JUST done his own thing but an associ...

Re: Can we just talk Gretsch drums a bit.

Hmm ok, has anyone actually owned/tried the two kits? I'm pretty sure Gretsch have had lulls in quality etc over the years? Yes, the newer drums are better, and the service is also better if anything goes wrong. Excellent, what makes them "better" just build quality or are we talking sound?

Re: Can we just talk Gretsch drums a bit.

To answer your question: the 14" x 18" ( IMO ) has a deeper tone, more round, and just looks better. Of course drum heads will have the biggest effect on the sound. I have a very wide open sound on all my 14x20 Gretsch USA Customs and the 15x18 USA. Am using Ambassador Calftones for batte...

Re: Can we just talk Gretsch drums a bit.

Tell me more about your 18 x 15, what characteristics does the extra 1" give to the sound. How versatile is this drum compared to your 20 x 14?

Any of you Gretsch fanatics know whether there's much difference between current usa customs and the usa customs of 98/99 era, preferences?

Re: Gary Novak

That's great info thanks, still no clearer though, would be nice to know exactly what drums were used, sizes, heads, tuning etc etc, this record has one of the best snare recorded sounds ever

Re: Gary Novak

Can anyone clarify once and for all what drums Gary was using on the Paint The World album, make and sizes? I remember he was in Modern Drummer around the time using Sonor drums, but i think i read he used Yamaha on the record!???

Re: Assorted videos / YouTube thread

Probably a bit late to the party but been checking out Ronald Bruner's playing after listening to the latest Kamasi Washington album.
This guy has plenty of chops and excellent internal time, great stuff!

Re: VINNIE - The thread about Colaiuta

The level of playing all round on that superheroes record is scary. Can you imagine having to play a session like that!!!?
