Re: BENNY GREB - New videos
I love Benny, saw him play last month and he was very funny and relaxed, as well as very creative and skillful as a player. I wish, wish, wish he'd do more as part of a major artist's project though, rather than just music through his own lens. I know he hasn't JUST done his own thing but an associa...

Re: Can we just talk Gretsch drums a bit.
If you are going to spend alot of money and you want a specific thing, why not look for a custom drum builder?. Resale value won't be as high but you'll get what you want.. I think if you're spending a lot of money and getting THE kit, the heart plays as much of a role as the head. So it's not just...

Ah right, thanks Paul - this was something drumnhands mentioned (I think on drummerworld forum) but maybe I misinterpreted how you do this...

Re: Yamaha EAD10
Yesterday I had my first proper go with this. It is pretty extraordinary. For me, the various different 'scenes' don't hold much interest - no one wants to hear drums through a flanger. I just want to use it to record and video my drums quickly and easily - I can't get over how good the recording qu...

Re: Yamaha EAD10
I am getting one of these in May and I wondered Paul if you use it without an additional trigger? In a lot of the try-out / review vids they have the snare trigger on.
I know it works without one, but presumably better with. Have you added a trigger?

Re: VINNIE - The thread about Colaiuta
It must be that he's making a choice about sound, rather than not caring? Surely. For me his natural Gretsch kit that he used pre-signature kit is the ultimate drum sound, just perfect, but he tended to use clear heads and go for a big open-but-focused, classic USA Custom sound. Signature kit was mu...

Re: Gretsch Brooklyn's
My best friend had the same issue - fell in love with Brooklyns, couldn't find the right sizes. So he bought 24, 13, 16 shell pack and the shop ordered the 18" floor he wanted direct from Gretsch. It took about 13 months in the end, something like that, an unbelievable saga! So I'd keep searchi...

Re: VINNIE - The thread about Colaiuta
I've watched the first episode and I think it's fantastic. I love the passion and the soul of it - I really think soul is lacking in a lot of projects involving great drummers... But everything here is about technique supporting the music not the other way around. There's such great communication on...

Re: Playing Covers: How Picky is Too Picky???
Pocket I love the one man band rush clip you posted. The guy came pretty darn close to Neil's parts but played his take. I can play his parts note for note on most songs. That shit is challenging. If I hear someone play a rush tune note for note I'm giggling Also mentioned in that thread but I don'...
