Re: Home recording
It's not ideal in a kitchen but try and get some absorbtive stuff on the walls. 2 blankets hanging from 2 coat racks.. or whatever you can do. If you clean the room sound up your setup will sound totally useable.. Right now it's good but a bit washed out.. Adding extra mics etc won't help it will j...

Re: Home recording
Thanks Steve. Yeah, I totally agree with you, and it's a learning curve for sure. More mics and proper EQ, compression, etc will help. I'd like to be able to get a warmer and drier sound. I think recording in my kitchen will hold me back as it just doesn't have the right acoustics to make the drums ...

That's excellent, what a great sound. And it's got a vintage Jill Scott vibe to it.
Here's a kid with one or two familiar but very well played Vinnie chops.

Re: Home recording
 Sorry for my little outburst the other day. Was tired and irritable. Thanks cjbdrm and Chris. Yes, you're right about gearslutz, lol. Interesting about TRS, didn't know it doubles the dB. But I guess I should get a couple anyway. I've messed around again with the kick mic. It's not a dedicate...

Re: Home recording
I'm going to be unpopular for saying this, but I thought this was meant to be a friendly drum community where drummers help other drummers out. Apart from Jim and Julian, noone ever seems to respond to anything I post, particularly for help. I just don't fucking get it. It would have been nice to ha...

Re: Home recording
Thanks Julian. :•) You might have a point there about the compression and line inputs. I believe the inputs on the Q8 should automatically switch as they're designed as XLR/TRS inputs, but I just noticed that my two output leads have one black ring, but that TRS leads have two black rings. Mine are ...

Home recording
Hi guys. I've been messing around with microphones and stuff on my acoustic kit and really enjoying the process. That is, when my neighbours don't complain :) I just bought a Zoom Q8 and am using its built in stereo mics as sort of room mics. I've connected two mics into my little mixer and two outp...

11 years old. I know there's lots of child prodigies we've seen on drums, but I don't understand how anyone of so few years understands fusion, let alone play it.

Re: R.I.P.
Really sorry to hear that Jeppe! My sincerest condolences, and best wishes and good health to you.
By the way, someone on Drummerworld was asking for Virgil transcriptions the other day. I replied to him to ask for Morgenthaler on this forum just in case you're armed with transcriptions. . :- )
