Re: What hot licks have you been working on?
Ive been working on the Joe Crabtree lessons on youtube like the "Don't ask Me" opening fill, and the fill from Warren Cuccurillo(?) tune he has up. Ive also been working on my "gospel chops" stuff. I know alot of that is taboo on this forum sometimes, but it is so darn fun to pl...

Re: Steve Smith
My wife couldnt wait to see Steve Smith in '03. Actually in the exact same club in Reading, PA that that clip was filmed in. She was also just as excited to see Vinnie for the first time as i was. Ditto for Weckl. She couldnt wait to see Thomas Lang. but not for his playing she just thought he was h...

Re: The age old "chops vs groove" debate
If you are on a gig thinking about how much you are holding back, you are on the wrong gig.

Re: Tuning....Secrets
Second part of the article is up. Not as in depth as the first part, but a good read. Focused mainly on Carter's snare. AlsoI must reiterate, I am having fantastic results with the advice from this article with both indoor and outdoor gigs. The latter of which always posed problems for me. Last Thur...

Re: Good recording hihat for rock
I have K Custom Darks. Used em since '99. I use the bottom as a top with a Z Dyno Beat for heavy gigs or outdoor gigs and i really love em. The K custom darks by themselves, Ive used em for pop rock recording in a pretty decent studio and I was happy with the results.

Re: Music Documentaries
if you can find Everyone Stares on dvd it would be worth it vs youtube or Netflix. The commentary with Stewart and Andy is PRICELESS. I mean the whole movie is fantastic, the fact he had the forsight to start recording...wow. But again the commentary is stellar.

Re: Blushda Alert
I say we collectively contact the companies that endorse him and show them this thread and the ridiculous statements this guy has made. He seems to feel that companies are looking for people like him and not the guys on HOD. He just gave me another reason to continue to ignore Meinl cymbals. Ha. Ser...

Saw the Anvil documentary on Netflix last night. Outstanding. At first I almost thought Spinal Tap, but I was wrong. Watch it.
