Jazz Drummer - Phil Seamen matched grip
Check this guy out. Apparently he was the leading drum mentor in England - pre-rock 'n roll. Ginger Baker was one of his students apparently. Phil Seamen. Short drum solo at the end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0L3ACAoPA8o and...... he plays matched grip. Does anyone else know more about him ?

Re: Steve Holmes vids
I notice more and more I am using matched grip. I think you really have to be careful over a long career playing traditional as there is very little muscle support and the fulcrum muscles/tendons can be damaged. I think Jack may have had some arthritis set-in (speculation) as he was hitting "ha...

Re: Mr. Gadd
I had the XI commandment record in high school and memorized that solo. I still think that solo holds up to one of his best solo playing in his career. I thought it was so funny that the last fill at the very end sounds like he dropped his sticks. It was like as imperfect as anything could get. Just...

Re: Mr. Gadd
This is a live solo at the Bottom Line in '81 with Tom Scott and Marcus Miller on bass. I think Gadd was in prime form here, just coming out of the 70s.
More recent Gadd with Pedro Martinez.

Re: Vinne-Mclaughlin Super Group Live today @ 2pm Eastern
How come the band had a train wreck after Vinnie's solo? That's so annoying... It's like they are in outer-space when there is a drum solo. This has happened alot with me as well. Only John Mclaughlin and pianist got it right and Brandford messed it up by coming in late but they all went with Brandf...

Re: Steve Jordan with Clapton 12/12/12 concert on now
Jordan sounded great. So far, I thought by far the R.Stones Groove and sound was the best. Must be because they are on tour all of the time. Man... What a rhythm section the Stones have. So simple yet so deep. Charlie Watts has a really organic sound and somehow sounded really good on the tv. I'm su...

Re: Buddy Rich Documetary: Kickstarter
I asked my dad if he would take me to a Buddy Rich concert in Minneapolis (Carleton Dinner Theater -circa 1980). He did, and after the show I told my dad i wanted to meet Buddy. My dad said let's go find his bus. We found his bus and dad said for me to ask the roadie if I could meet Buddy and the gu...

Re: Jojo's new pedal
I need something that packs up better in my hdware case. This fits the bill but I will have to see. I like the feel of a heavier pedal since my gorilla foot has been used to heavy pedals.

Re: Vinnie out with 60 year-old bass player
Vinnie's been checking out Neil lately. (not....) I don't doubt that Vinnie is probably trying to change his sound & set-up to make things more interesting sonically and physically. It's not like he can play a different kit every night on a long tour like we have to in little clubs in NYC or oth...
