Re: In ear monitors

Check these out: http://www.alienears.com/ Best price I've seen so far for triple drivers. I don't have any references about the quality but Todd is right, I'd rather go for single or double drivers of better known brands if you plan on saving money. In my case, I went for the Sennheiser IE8, which...

Re: The effect of exposure to loud music on your ability to

Those Shures are great! I actually use those exact same ones as my in-ear monitors onstage. They're fantastic!

The Methods and Mechanics DVD is in constant rotation. Hell, I even let one of my percussionists, my ...

Re: Tuning an 18" floor tom

Quick tip on the soup can: you can avoid the razor if you heat it on an electric heating plate or something like that until it's able to burn through the head. About the tuning, I don't like 18"s but for it to work fine you'd have to either go for it and tune it low or use it on the medium sid...

Re: Dream Theater

These types of bands and drummers can inspire kids to become musicians because they're so over-the-top in so many ways. Hopefully, once these kids play for a few years, their curiosity will lead to them to discover other artists via their own investigation, or via reading about the influences of th...

Re: Dream Theater

What I just noticed and did not notice before was, if you check out the drums in the background, it looks to me like he was already working on the DT setup. Check out the octobans that are way up in the air. Unless he'd used those up at that height previously, but I'm not sure I recall seeing him wi...
