Yep, Mangini's kit is pretty gnarly.
I would assume that DT fans would settle for nothing less than an eyesore.

Re: Dream Theater
I think it is pretty obvious that what the band is looking for is a drummer who will keep the chair warm for when MP returns. My hypothesis was confirmed when they made it clear, multiple times, that they wanted all the old drum parts played the same. Being that I've been to a few DT shows, I know t...

Re: Playing Electronic Drums
The only time that I've used them and have been happy is when doing musical theater gigs. I actually prefer them in that setting for two reasons: 1.) Better balance in the pit-- the other musicians love me for it. 2.) It is very nice to have such a wide array of sounds at my disposal-- it is wonderf...

Tony Williams for a beginner? I'll have to rebuke that in the name of Moses :o That's like learning to ride a pony by jumping on a bull. ....? Even if someone can't play along, they can still LISTEN. An equally valuable learning tool. Very true; however, the title of the thread is: "Simple jaz...

My vote is for anything that is Art Blakey (Jazz Messenger stuff). It's all about supporting the soloist and is meat and potatoes; however, the groove is deeper th...

look, I don't know your situation. But what you just wrote is pure fantasy and frankly, a little scary. Here's what should be your focus: Health, Food, Shelter. period. I second that. RPC-- I don't mean any disrespect by saying this, but some of these posts, as well as your other posts, sound a bit...

Re: Need you help guys! Don't know what to choose!
Yeah, those nesting drums don't sound too bad considering that the shells are not "continuous" by nature. The only thing I would say with those is that the appearance is a little too wacky-- they kind of remind me of those weird Peavey sets from the mid-90's that were made of that syntheti...

Yep, even the band needs to wear a diaper when hearing Dennis play.
My hypothesis has been proven correct.

That is weird! Good thing you aren't schizophrenic or that might really mess you up
