Re: Vinnie spots the camera...
Even tho I realize there is nothing can really do about it nowadays, Vinnie came up in an era where all this video taping wasn't happening at the immense level it is now. And it's been, what...the last 5 years or so where all phones have video capability.....so he goes from the mid-late 70's all the...

Re: The Dance of Maya - drum cover video
I always counted it three bars of 6/8 and one bar of 2/8. Where does 10/8 come from?
Btw, sounded great.

Re: New drum room/mic setup = new vid!
Sounds great! Steve can you talk about your bass drum sound in the vid for a second? Great thump and attack. What kind of beater surface (plastic, felt??)- what kind and how much muffling - and the kind of heads/do you use one of those flampatchy-thingys. Thanks for any info. I just got a set of the...

Re: Composed vs. Improvised solos
Well I think the two guys you have mentioned are very much methodical thinkers. It's a personality thing. I certainly think that they both could play something off the cuff and it would sound decent to say the least, but to them, they want it 10 out of 10, not 6 or 7 out of 10. To them, it's perfect...

Re: 12 x 8 tuning issue - Yamaha players help!
Just thought I would give you guys an update on my 12 x 8. BTW, I tried almost everything you guys suggested, thank you all. The first thing I did was test to see if the bearing edges were true, and turns out, they weren’t. Granted, they weren’t that bad, but I wanted them perfect as possible. I tes...

Re: 12 x 8 tuning issue - Yamaha players help!
Thanks Chris, I will check the out of round (hoops/drum) and bearing edges.
All the heads I've mentioned are brand new..no old ones. Maybe the Amb X I have is bad.
Has anybody had an experience with quality control with Yamaha?

12 x 8 tuning issue - Yamaha players help!
Hey Guys, I just bought myself a Yamaha Recording Custom drumset and so far I love it. The only problem is I am having a hellava time tuning the 12x8 rack tom….the 10x7.5 and the 16 x 16 sound great and lively..but the 12x8 just seems dead and won’t ring out like the others. I would like it to sound...
