Re: Tempo...Are you rushing or dragging? - New film

I've been screamed at by conductors and composers but never by teachers. Chaffee made a crack to me but he did it just to make a point and it wasn't meant to belittle. Soph and Rufus Reid tore me down and rebuilt me in a week that I spent doing concerts and clinics with them. They did that all the t...

Re: Shure Beta 52a + Beta 91a for kick micing

Thanks for the replies! The guy doing my recording is looking for something and I'm not sure what it is he's looking for. We've done a bunch of different things, some have worked out nicely and others just not so hot (micing the batter head from the outside...not a good choice). I think he's trying ...

Shure Beta 52a + Beta 91a for kick micing

Anyone use this combination of kick mics...91a inside for attack with a 52a in the port for bottom? I've heard some sound techs swear by it. One sound company I worked with this summer used these on my kick (22x17 yammy oak custom)...of course being behind the kit I couldn't hear the result but folk...

Woodford Reserve Ad Feat. Max's For Big Sid solo

I'm sure you've all seen the ad by now...I was stunned when I first saw it aired. I was like, "F'n right! Max Roach solo!!," although I'm not sure if it's a Max recording or some session guy doing a really credible take on it. Some of the "reviews" I've seen have been negative (F...

Re: DAVE WECKL - Recent activity & Videos

Waited over a year for "Convergence." Two days after it arrived I got the new DW Acoustic Band CD...I've been waiting for it since I saw the teaser several months back on YT...actually, been waiting for Dave to put this band together since seeing a couple boots of Makoto Ozone playing with...

Re: DAVE WECKL - Recent activity & Videos

Yeah +1 Lucas. I saw a teaser for this group a little earlier this year and have been anticipating that release even more than the mega project. I mean Dave with Makoto Ozone, Tom and Gary...that's a stellar lineup! The snippets of tunes on that vid have me very excited indeed!!!

Re: Drum Camp topic: drum camp reviews and info

NO disrespect in anyway to name players...but a 1:1 private lesson imo is like a counseling session... only so much can really happen meeting one time outside of the "WOW factor" of sitting with a hero of sorts. Cats like Steve, who I think has a gift to teach, who listen well and can rea...
