Re: Snarky Puppy
if I was 25 years younger and in music school, I'd probably love them. Yes, you have a point. But then again, 25 years ago would be the last time music school actually made any sense. You may as well go to typewriter repair school now for the same number of opportunities when you graduate. :mrgreen...

Re: Snarky Puppy
Snarky Puppy leaves me cold. Not sure why, but it just doesn't do it for me. Great players all around, but the tunes.... I dunno.

Re: Steve Smith
I used to listen to Focus' "Moving Waves" trying to figure out Pierre van der Linden fills. I met him in person in 2005, when my band opened for Focus, an unforgettable day :P That must have been a treat! Did you speak to him at all? What setup was he using at the time? I just love his pl...

Re: Steve Smith
he loves Jazz but Jazz doesn't love him back. :-) That's the perfect way of explaining it. But still, he used to at least have a great drum sound. Now that he's using black dots, top and bottom, tuned pretty loose, it's just not right. But my problem with his latest record has more to do with the m...

Re: Steve Smith
I ordered and received that newest recording that Smith released a few weeks ago. I gotta say, it's easily the worst thing he's ever done. I'm a massive fan from way back, and I honestly don't understand why this was released. Most of the tunes are completely forgettable, and his drums have never so...
